About Mount Meru
Mount Meru is Tanzania's second-highest peak and an excellent alternative to Kilimanjaro for those seeking a challenging but less crowded climbing experience. At 4,566 meters, Meru offers spectacular views of Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape.
The mountain is located within Arusha National Park and features a unique ecosystem with diverse vegetation zones. The climb takes 3-4 days and offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities, including giraffes, buffalo, and various bird species.
Mount Meru's summit provides panoramic views of Kilimanjaro, the Great Rift Valley, and the surrounding plains. The mountain is also an important water catchment area and supports a variety of endemic plant species.
