Ngorongoro Crater
Explore Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania.
About Ngorongoro Crater
The Ngorongoro Crater is often called "Africa's Eden" and is one of the most spectacular natural wonders on Earth. This massive volcanic caldera is 19 kilometers wide and 600 meters deep, creating a unique ecosystem that supports an incredible diversity of wildlife.
The crater floor is home to over 25,000 large animals, including the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino). The crater's walls create a natural enclosure that has allowed wildlife to thrive in this protected environment for thousands of years.
Ngorongoro is also a UNESCO World Heritage site and part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which includes the famous Olduvai Gorge where early human fossils have been discovered. The area offers a perfect combination of wildlife viewing and archaeological significance.
