About Nyerere (Selous)
Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve) is Africa's largest game reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The park covers over 30,000 square kilometers and offers one of the most pristine wilderness experiences in Africa.
The park is named after Tanzania's first president, Julius Nyerere, and is home to the world's largest population of African wild dogs. The Rufiji River system runs through the park, creating diverse habitats that support an incredible variety of wildlife.
