About Udzungwa Mountains
Udzungwa Mountains National Park is known as the "Galapagos of Africa" due to its incredible biodiversity and high number of endemic species. The park is home to over 400 bird species, including several that are found nowhere else on Earth.
The mountains feature diverse habitats, from lowland rainforest to montane forest and grasslands. The park is famous for its waterfalls, including the spectacular Sanje Falls, which cascade down 170 meters in three tiers.
Udzungwa offers excellent hiking opportunities, with trails ranging from easy walks to challenging multi-day treks. The park is also home to several primate species, including the endemic Iringa red colobus and Sanje crested mangabey.
